Dream Fulfilled: Our Family Journey in Japan

Pandemic and Delayed Dream

As a lesbian couple stationed at a US military base in Japan during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, we faced uncertainty about our future family. With limited options and the fear of aging out of our reproductive years, we felt a growing sense of isolation. It was during this challenging time that we stumbled upon Samurai Donor, a beacon of hope in our journey.

Serendipitous Encounter

Kelly discovered Samurai Donor by chance. Initially skeptical, we decided to schedule a counseling session. Due to the pandemic, there were strict travel restrictions, but we eventually met Masa, our potential donor. His warm smile and empathetic nature immediately put us at ease. He listened patiently to our concerns as a foreign, same-sex couple, offering invaluable advice. It was in that moment, we knew we wanted to ask him to be our donor.

New Family and Bright Future

Four months later, I was pregnant. While there were challenges navigating pregnancy and childbirth in a foreign country, the warmth and support we received made it an unforgettable experience. Now, back in the United States, we are happily raising our family.

We will forever cherish our time in Japan and the incredible gift of life that Masa has given us. If we ever have the opportunity to return, we will be sure to express our gratitude in person.
