A Story of Hope: Our Journey in Japan
Far from Georgia, here in Japan, I am feeling the warmth of my son sleeping quietly in my arms. Before reaching this miracle, my husband and I went through so much despair and so many tears. I want to share our story with you, because maybe you are having the same pain now.
The Reality We Faced
After few years of marriage, we never doubted we would have our own family because we love children so much. But even with treatments, nothing happened. Then the test results came: “severe male infertility.” When I heard the doctor’s words, everything went dark. I will never forget that feeling.
We talked about “life without children.” But we could not give up. So, we put our last hope in “sperm donation.” First, we looked at overseas sperm banks, but the cost to send it to Japan and all the paperwork was too expensive—more than we could imagine.
Most of all, we wanted to know the “personality” of the donor. Then, we met a French man living in Japan who said he would help us. We trusted him. But right after we sent him the money, he disappeared. More than the money, our hearts were broken by this “betrayal.” After that, talking about children became a taboo between me and my husband.
Meeting the “Samurai” Changed Everything
One day, I was still searching because I couldn’t stop. I found a website called Samurai Donor. I was a bit worried because the donors were Japanese, but when I asked my husband, he said something surprising:
“Japanese donors will be honest. Also, they have black hair, so the baby might look natural as our child. It’s even better if he speaks English.”
His words gave me courage, and we decided to meet the donor, Masa-san. When we met him, he was exactly like a “Samurai” from a picture—very polite and respectful. I was so surprised because he spoke not only English but even some simple Georgian words! His honest attitude and deep knowledge about Japanese medicine gave us a feeling of safety we never felt before.
Happiness After the Sadness
With Masa-san’s support, I got pregnant on the very first try. But the joy was short. Maybe because of my age, I had a miscarriage. It was a tragedy.
I felt a deep loss, but the fact that “I could get pregnant” gave us courage. For one year after that, we kept trying every month. Finally, I gave birth to a healthy baby boy.
My son has strong features and a deep face; if I say he is Georgian, nobody doubts it.
Before, we were scammed and felt despair. But now I understand. That bitter experience was a sign to lead us to meet the honest Masa-san.
